The ‘rocking chair’ now drives like a completely different vehicle. We had to test its excellent crosswind stability extensively, especially on the AP7 Alicante-Valencia motorway. Bumps in the road are virtually ‘cushioned’ – it’s like night and day!

Installing the rear shock absorbers was difficult because I had to get additional spacers for the shock absorber mounts at the bottom, but I found them at a hardware store in Aspe. Please let your workshop manager know; I spoke to him briefly on the phone last week during installation.

The handling of my motorhome, a Bürstner Aviano i727 with ALKO chassis and very long overhang, was getting worse and worse, sometimes even borderline dangerous.

Through intensive web searches, various blogs, etc., I became aware of Marquart shock absorbers.

‘Absorbs road bumps much better’

The standard suspension was spongy and rocked heavily along the longitudinal axis. It dipped heavily when braking. Now, with the Marquart dampers, it feels completely different. Much more direct road contact, no more dipping or rocking.

Marquart sent me the rear dampers again with a higher tuning level (4) to swap out. This improved comfort without increasing stiffness. It’s still a leaf-sprung truck with a short wheelbase, so it’s not exactly a limousine, but it now handles much better. Worth every penny!
P.S. I retrofitted bump stops at the front myself. Also great, will fit at the rear too.

Now feels closer to a car than a van to drive

“I upgraded my 2024 Hymer MLt 580 in two stages so I could assess the benefit of the individual changes. Three months and 3,000 kilometres ago, I had Marquart Rear Dampers installed.From the very first mile you could really feel the difference. Roundabouts were much smoother, with hardly any body roll. The low-speed sway that the Mercedes Sprinter usually suffers from was almost gone.

After driving for a few weeks, I felt that the original Mercedes front dampers weren’t quite working in sync with the Marquart rear dampers. I ordered and installed a pair of Marquart front dampers. A 200km test drive along some of the UK’s finest twisty B roads showed that upgrading all four dampers was the right decision.

The 2024 Hymer MLt comes with a third rear leaf spring as standard, and when you add the Marquart Dampers front and rear, the handling is completely transformed. I would definitely recommend this upgrade.“
