On my trip to Oman in my MAN L2000 motorhome (built in ’98), I had to drive through Iraq on bumpy roads for 1,500 km, 600 km of which were in extremely poor condition. Heading towards Jordan, I drove into a dip on the motorway – it was almost like a ski jump. The 7.5-tonne vehicle jumped at least 1 metre and, fortunately, landed reasonably well.”
