“The handling has improved significantly”

“Hello, dear Marquart team, in December I had the Marquart shock absorbers fitted to our self-converted 2010 Iveco Daily 4 (see photo), which was previously used as a parcel van by the Post Office. It was only now (26 April) that I was able to take the first proper motorway trips, and I am very pleasantly surprised at how much the handling has improved: the vehicle tracks straight with precision, without the constant steering corrections previously needed to keep the ‘carriage’ on course.

The worst part, with the standard shock absorbers, was the car’s behaviour after overtaking a lorry: to avoid being pushed straight back into the right-hand lane by the pressure wave in front of the lorry, you had to countersteer quite sharply, which caused the whole car to sway violently. Very unpleasant and not entirely without risk… With the reinforced shock absorbers, you can still feel the effect, but at a maximum of 5% of the previous behaviour, it is no longer a problem.

The 2-metre overhang of the bodywork behind the rear axle does create a significant lever effect in crosswinds, which cannot be completely counteracted. In roundabouts, you no longer feel as though you’re about to tip over onto the outer front wheel, and even when taking bends a little more sportily, you no longer break out in a cold sweat. And the clunking noise from the front suspension when cornering on bumpy roads is also significantly reduced.

To be honest, I was actually quite sceptical at first, because the reviews from other motorhome owners on the Marquart website sounded far too optimistically unrealistic to me. But now I’m glad I made this investment. It’s not only a huge improvement in driving comfort, but also in terms of safety. Now we’re looking forward to our next holiday trip to Hungary with our dog Lemmy.”
