HD suspension components from Marquart for the Iveco Daily

The Iveco Daily and its special features

Many Iveco Daily drivers complain of vague driving behaviour combined with imprecise steering. The lateral rolling and inclination in curves sometimes take on extreme proportions. This leads many drivers to long for a captain’s licence. Changing lanes often causes problems. Drivers feel that they can only keep their vehicle in lane with difficulty.

Many Iveco Daily drivers complain about a disruptive and rough front axle suspension. Crossing transverse joints, e.g. on motorway bridges, causes the front axle to crash and bang, and some drivers are afraid for their dashboard. This particularly affects fully integrated Iveco Dailys. But the rocking of the front axle caused by the sensitivity of the transverse joints is also a problem for driving safety.

Iveco Daily drivers on a 4×4 basis often feel as if their vehicle is about to tip over. In fact, the rear end of the 4×4 often hangs down, which not only looks ugly, but the smaller angle of the slope also contributes to the fact that the off-road capability is no longer 100%. Some owners also complain of strong rocking of the vehicle when stationary. And when the torsion bar spring at the front gives way, the Dailys tend to sag there too.

Rocking, swaying, rolling in motorhomes?

This indicates that the shock absorbers of your Iveco Daily are either too weak or even defective. Campervans are usually based on standard light commercials or on a truck chassis that has been modified to carry a higher load. The original shock absorbers of an Iveco Daily van are usually not up to the diverse requirements of motorhomes because the significantly different use is not taken into account and motorhomes almost always drive at the weight limit. The standard chassis is often not designed for this continuous load:

  • A completely changed vehicle height and width,
  • a long rear overhang,
  • additional tanks (movable load),
  • a motorcycle bridge at the rear (changed centre of gravity) or
  • a boat on the roof (increased centre of gravity).

Not adapting the dampers to these changed requirements is negligent.

Special challenges with the chassis of motorhomes

Marquart offers chassis components for every need for the Iveco Daily. Stronger and tighter shock absorbers for the rear axle, tighter yet comfort-oriented shock absorbers for the front axle. In addition, we not only have different characteristics in the compression and rebound stages for the dampers, we also provide you with reinforced springs or additional air suspension. You decide how comfortable or sporty the driving behaviour of your Daily will be.

Reinforced shock absorbers for Iveco Daily motorhomes offer you

  • increased stability in crosswinds and when driving over bridges,
  • better handling in storms and gusts,
  • stability on winding roads, no more rocking and pushing out in corners,
  • very good driving stability on roundabouts,
  • rocking, bouncing and spongy steering are a thing of the past.

Customised solutions for safer driving

We are often asked by Iveco Daily drivers: ‘What can I do to improve the handling of my motorhome? What are the benefits of air suspension for my Daily?’

An air suspension makes sense if you want to raise the level of the vehicle or if you want to compensate for uneven ground at the parking space. This is particularly advantageous for vehicles with a long rear overhang (centre of rear axle to the end of the vehicle). For example, if you often use ferries or drive onto steep ramps. Air suspension can also be advantageous if you are sensitive to wind. However, an air suspension always works only vertically.

To improve driving safety, however, it is particularly important to consider the horizontal forces (lateral rocking and swaying and all pitching and rocking movements). To significantly improve the driving behaviour of a vehicle, progressive (quick-acting) shock absorbers are the first choice. As soon as the body moves out of the horizontal position, it must be held in place by a strong yet finely tuned rebound stage. The pressure stage of our dampers allows for rapid compression without allowing the cabin to ‘sink in’.

Reinforced shock absorbers for Iveco Daily motorhomes with perfectly matched compression and rebound damping on the front and rear axles keep the vehicle safely on track even in precarious situations. No matter which body you are driving, whether Concorde, Carthago, Morelo, Bimobil or any other body manufacturer – our suspension optimisation will make your Iveco Daily drive much more confidently and safely.

We have a variety of chassis optimisations for the Iveco Daily. Starting with the reinforced shock absorbers from Marquart, which work at a completely different level than the standard shock absorbers with higher oil volume and pressure and rebound stages. We also offer a lift kit for the 4×4. And we install reinforced leaf springs on the rear axle.

We are happy to accommodate your requests in finding the perfect suspension optimisation for your requirements. For example, a more comfortable set-up, better directional stability, a reduction in front axle break-down and a horizontal alignment of the vehicle.

Tip!

Adjustments to the torsion bar suspension, the calibration of the air suspension height and the installation of an additional air spring can only be carried out by us on site. For many years, we have been working together with workshops that are experts in motorhome chassis.

The Iveco Daily 35 has a transverse leaf spring on the front axle. All other Iveco Daily models work on the front axle on the basis of a torsion bar spring.
